How to prevent fungus gnat invasion

Fungus gnat larvae eat away the nutrients in the substrate so it's not ideal to have them around. If you don't control their population, you might see their number in the thousands in a matter of weeks.

Luckily, it is very easy to prevent them from gaining access to your substrate. Here are the things you need:

  • thumbtack
  • micropore tape
  • containers with tight, fitting lids( No loose lids!!)

1. Grab your lid

lid

2. Using a thumbtack, create at least 20 holes from the underside of the lid.

3. Put micropore tape over the holes

4. Done!

Now you can enjoy beetle breeding without the stress of having to deal with fungus gnats 😊
